Art loves Italian and Keith Haring: grade 3&4

Our study of Keith Haring has almost come to an end. Students are in the process of uploading their hilarious and fun stop motion animations to their ‘SeaSaw’ folios. I will also post some in the next few days on the blog. In the meantime, if you find yourselves in Collingwood anytime soon, you can visit a REAL LIFE Keith Haring mural, painted by Keith Haring in 1984 when he came to Australia. It is located on the former Collingwood Technical College site on Johnston Street. The mural received a huge restoration in 2013.

Interestingly, there is also a Keith Haring print on display as part of NGV MoMA exhibition!

Art Loves Italian – grade 1&2

This term in the Art room, Visual art and Italian are teaming up to present units of work through various themes.

Grade 1&2 are learning the names of the fruit and veggies in Italian while creating chalk drawings of the various fruits and veggies.

A study of the whimsical and quirky Italian master Arcimboldo will be completed to support knowledge and understanding of how to use food to create images. Towards the middle of the term, students will create a self portrait inspired by the work of Arcimboldo.
